Let’s Move! National Pilates Day is May 2

Here’s what’s happening this month:

  • Celebrating National Pilates Day on May 2
  • Our Spring Sale is ON
  • Equipment Spotlight: Konnection Bands
  • Move of the Month: Tease”R”

National Pilates Day is just around the corner on May 2nd, a time to celebrate the strength, balance, and mindful movement that Pilates brings into our lives. The day was created in the early 2000s by the Pilates Method Alliance to honor Joseph Pilates’ legacy and to promote the physical and mental benefits of the method.

There are so many ways to join in the celebration!

At the studio, on May 2 we’ll be:

  • Giving out prizes for anyone who signs up and attends the 8 am or 9 am class
  • Anyone who signs up and attends the 10 am Mat class will receive another mat/barre class added to their account
  • Our 11 am trial class on May 2 will be a full class instead of 45 minutes

And all weekend long anyone who purchases a 10-pack of any classes or privates will receive a free 11th class/private session

At home, you can roll out your mat for a favorite flow, revisit the foundational exercises, or revisit our March MATness playlist. You might set aside a few quiet minutes for breathwork and core connection, or invite a friend or family member to try Pilates with you for the first time.

However you choose to participate, National Pilates Day is the perfect reminder to reconnect with your body, honor your progress, and enjoy the practice that keeps you feeling strong, centered, and energized.

Equipment Spotlight: Konnections Bands

I’m thrilled to announce Konnections Bands are now at Pilates by the Bay! I was introduced to the bands during a workshop at the American Ballet in New York, and I immediately knew we had to have them in the studio.

The Konnections Band enhances Pilates sessions by linking all four limbs, encouraging balanced movement and greater body awareness. The bands are adjustable and help connect your upper and lower body. With loops at both ends, the bands can be incorporated into a wide variety of exercises, adding a fresh dimension to your workouts.

This method challenges stability, deepens core engagement, and offers a fun and effective way to elevate your Pilates practice. Ready to feel the difference? Book a class and experience it for yourself!

March MATness Recap

We had a great time last month during March MATness celebrating the classical Pilates mat exercises. We loved sharing each movement and putting together our YouTube playlist so you could follow along, revisit favorites, or stay consistent with your practice day by day.

The best part is that you can keep moving through the full series all year long by visiting our playlist anytime it fits your schedule!

Move of the Month: The Tease’R’

If you followed along with March MATness you’ll recognize our exercise of the month from Day 21. It’s the Teaser!

Our video shows some Teaser variations on the Tower, Reformer, mat and using our new Konnections bands!  Most people have a love, hate relationship with Tease”R” no matter how you do it, it’s all control!

Fun Fact: Pilates legend has it this exercise is called teaser because Joseph Pilates would help clients reach the position by holding his hands palms up and having clients press their hands palms down into his and he would keep moving back “teasing” them until they were lifting on their own without his assistance.

Joe’s Tips: Arms and legs must be kept in straight parallel lines
